Washing up Tips

Boost your mood while you are doing your dishes!

Dishes are such a pain, but yes they are always there and they have to be done.  I love to add a few drops of essential oils to my hot dish water and enjoy the smells while I'm getting them done!  I usually use a plain ish dishwashing liquid and add any mixture that I'm feeling drawn too.  Tonight I used Basil and Lemon together that was nice, very refreshing!  You can try all sorts - AND essential oils contain potent and powerful cleansing properties.  Here are some of the oils that can be useful for cleaning AND help you get through the dishes!

I love to use Orange and Thyme, Lemongrass, Cypress, Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Lime, Bergamot, Citrus Bliss, Cheer and of course On Guard is great!!

Cleaning around the house

So you can use Essential oils all around the house for cleaning, you can make up your own natural sprays, using vinegar, baking soda and castille soap. And of course we have the doTerra On Guard cleaner concentrate, I use this all over my house I absolutely love the smell!!  Check out the Healthy Living tips here at doTerra Healthy Living.  Slowly you can swap out all your chemical cleaners for natural home made solutions!

To make an All-Purpose Cleansing Spray try this:

1 cup warm water, 1 cup white vinegar, then add your essential oils.  Just have a go with 5 drops then add more if you can still smell the vinegar.  Combine in a spray bottle and shake well.  Use on counters and wipe with a microfibre cloth or paper towel.

Another All-Purpose Spray recipe is:

3/4 fill your spray bottle (500ml) with warm water add 2 tbsp castille soap, then add about 5 drops of essential oils of your choice shake to combine....   so easy!  I prefer this recipe it’s more sudsy and gets rid of grimy substances.  But the one above is fantastic on glass and windows.  Just start with 5 drops again, then add more, depending on how strong you want your spray and how big your bottle is.

5 drops is enough for simple jobs like cleaning surfaces, for tougher jobs you can add up to 20 drops.  Always remember to test your sprays though on a small area out of site before you go to trigger happy!
