Lemon Essential Oil Benefits
🍋Lemon essential oil could be one of THE most versatile oils, and is the number one oil I recommend for people just starting out with essential oils.
Lemon has benefits for both your body and your mind, not to mention your house, and your family! It is mood balancing, sharpens you up, improves focus and relieves stress. Lemon Essential Oil Uses
Leave it on your kitchen bench and you will find you will think of all sorts of uses for it! I like to add a drop onto my bench after tidying up after cooking tea, then I wipe the whole bench with it on my cloth, it gets rid of cooking smells and gives you a burst of lemon happiness as you clean. Add to a bit of baking soda in the bottom of pots where there are stubborn bits of food - leave for a few minutes or overnight if very stubborn then you'll find it easier to clean off. A a few drops to your dishwater or to your rinse aid compartment in your dishwasher.
🍋 2 drops into your sink after you have cleaned it then wipe over with a paper towel, it will shine up your sink then go ahead and wipe it over any other greasy surfaces like the front of your microwave and stove (if suitable) - add some more drops to your paper towel if you need to
🍋 1 drop in a luke warm glass of water to start your day
🍋1 drop mixed with honey and warm water for a soothing drink
🍋1 drop added to a cup of chamomile tea - or tea of your choice
🍋1-3 drops mixed with a carrier oil in a small spray bottle for scrapes and boo boos
🍋1-2 drops onto your dry brush for body brushing
Use on your skin at night time, so there is no bother about sun sensitivity.

On those grey, blah days when my motivation disappears, lemon essential oil has become one of my favourite allies. I’m very “solar powered” and I’ve finally learnt that when I’m dragging my feet, getting procrastinaty and then beating myself up for “wasting the day”, it’s often just because there’s no sun. For a while I was like, is this a void-of-course moon thing, am I lazy or losing it? Then the sun would come out the next day and I’d realise, nope – I was just really missing the light. These days, the beautiful sunlight and lemon essential oil feel like the same kind of energy to me: bright, optimistic and gently activating.
I’m now religious about my morning lemon water and letting light into my body, and on cloudy or rainy days I’ll pop lemon in the diffuser or add a tiny dab to my bra or undergarments as a simple way to “carry the sunshine” with me. Of course, this isn’t a replacement for mental health support, but for my everyday “blah” and procrastination on cloudy days, lemon has become my little ray of sunshine. It helps me stay in the brightness, soften the self-judgement, and go with the flow a little more, even when the weather isn’t playing along.
How Do You Use Essential Oils?
You don’t need a degree in chemistry or extensive training to know how to use essential oils effectively. With a basic understanding of safety precautions and application methods, it is easy to start using essential oils.
