My Honest Review of the Oracle of the 7 Energies Deck
(And Why I’m So Glad I Stuck With It)
Okay, let me be totally real with you, this deck and I didn’t hit it off straight away.
I was drawn to the Oracle of the 7 Energies by Colette Baron-Reid right from the start. The artwork is gorgeous, the energy behind it felt powerful, and I loved the idea of a deck based on 7 types of energy (like fire, thought and so on). And of course I LOVE Colette! But... when I first got it, something just didn’t click, I think I was slightly afraid of it. The cardstock is quite thin which I wasn't used to and as I looked through the deck and chose some cards then read the guidebook I seemed to pick cards that I didn't understand or particularly like what they were telling me. I actually let it sit on my shelf for a bit, wondering if maybe I’d made a mistake.
Now, over a year later, it’s become another one of my favourite decks. Go figure! AND I'm used to the cardstock now!
Looking back, I honestly think I wasn’t quite ready for what this deck had to show me. It’s not fluffy. It gets right to the heart of things. It doesn’t sugar coat or dance around. For me, it’s a truth uncoverer. (Is that a word? It is now.)
Whenever I feel stuck, like something is off but I can’t quite name it, this is the deck I reach for. Sometimes it’s a situation I’m worried about, or maybe I just feel a bit “off” emotionally. I pull a card, open up the guidebook (without even trying to interpret the image at first), and just start journaling about the parts that jump out at me. I let it sit with me for a day or two, and usually ... boom, a lightbulb moment hits. There’s this “ahhh, that’s it!” feeling, like I’ve uncovered a little hidden truth.
What I’ve noticed is the more I’ve used this deck, the more it responds. Cards literally fly out of the deck now when I shuffle, it’s like it knows I’m ready to hear what it has to say.
I also really love using this one for bigger, seasonal check-in readings. It has its own special spread called the 7 Energies Crescent Reading, and it gives such deep insight when you’re needing a bit of a reset or some big picture guidance. I like doing this one every few months or when I feel like I’ve drifted off track a bit.
This deck is beautiful — not just in how it looks (though the artwork is stunning), but in how it works with you over time. It feels like a wise teacher... a bit mysterious at first, but if you’re willing to sit with it, journal, reflect, and not rush things, the messages that come through are seriously powerful.
If you’ve already got this deck, I’d love to know, did you connect with it straight away? Or did it take a bit of time like it did for me? And if you’ve been thinking about it but not sure, this might be your sign to give it a go (and maybe give it some space if it doesn’t click right away).
I’m still growing with this one, and I know there’s more for me to learn from it. But I’m so, so glad I stuck with it.
You can check it out here if you're curious.
And if you try that 7 Energies Crescent Spread, let me know how it goes — I’d love to hear!
Love,
Kelly xx
